As a "5 Time Grandmother" and part of the ClassicBabyStore family I wanted to tell all of you about some of the items we've used with the last three babies and found to be exactly what they say they are.


1. First is the book "The Happiest Baby on the Block". Dr Karp's steps include swaddling, side/stomach position, shhh sounds, swinging and sucking, it REALLY does work!! I keep my grandson while his mother works and I was able to get all my computer work done while he slept in a bassinet nearby. As long as he was swaddled he slept like a log. (4 Stars)

2. We tried several walker/play tables and this really didn't occupy him, as he wanted to jump and start trying to stand. I happened to see a "Jumperoo" in a store and thought this should do it and believe me it did! Hunter almost jumped himself silly in that jumperoo - he really had a lot of fun and thought he was so big because he could jump so hard. It was sturdy, didn't hang from a door jam and was adjustable as he gained height. It also had a play tray and makes noise when he jumps. This is an excellent item. (4 Stars)

3. During the Spring and Summer Hunter and I practically lived on my screened-in front porch but when the weather turned cold and we came inside I needed something to keep him occupied as he started into his "climbing" phase. I came upon an indoor slide set and put it up in my dining room. Needless to say it keeps all three of the little ones busy. It is the right size for 14 month olds to learn to climb and slide. If you have a playroom, den or family room it is great for indoors. Another good indoor toy is a "rocking animal". Toddlers love to rock and they can learn how to get on and off and rock themselves. It is low enough that if they fall off they won't hurt themselves.

4. The real lifesaver is a "playpen". There are several styles: the old fold up, the new play den style and perhaps more. I could not spend every minute watching to keep him out of things so a play pen was and is perfect. I used one for my own two kids when they were toddlers. They can learn to walk around, sit and play and also take a nap in it while you feel secure they are safe and you can do things like the wash, do dishes, or other things that take you out of the room. Playpens come with wood sides or cloth screen. Hunter now tries to shake the pen to death so a one piece pen is best for us. They come in several sizes and shapes. I use a smaller one on the porch and the larger in the house. (4 Stars)

5. Kids love to swing and this little tikes swing can be put either on your front porch or on a swing stand in the yard. My grand kids can't wait to go outside to swing.

6. As my grandson is now 18 months old and running around the house, he is also observing what his mother does. We found this pretend sweeper and he absolutely loves to push it all over their house. He smiles with that look of "see how big I am, I can help mama sweep!"

7. My son's oldest, just turned 3, asked for the Shopping cart. It came with play food, a scanner and computer so she has lots of items to play with.

8. For outside, Hunter, has a ball getting in and out of the little tikes car. The door opens, the steering wheel turns and there is a car horn to honk. At this point he hasn't gotten the hang of pushing the car forward so he usually goes in reverse. For him, the most fun is opening the door and climbing in and out.
